Reports have come to us from our sources stating that Microsoft is working to further enhance the function and operation of its digital assistant, Cortana in the Windows 10. Despite the fact that the digital assistant is soon to be removed from the Xbox One, the tech giant is testing a sort of chat-based UI for the digital assistant on computer systems that run the Windows 10.
Windows 10 is being tweaked like it’s a service, getting new features regularly. So far Microsoft has released seven updates: November Update, Anniversary Update, Creators Update, Fall Creators Update, April 2018 Update, October 2018 Update, May 2019 Update.
The new beta app for Cortana that was noticed by some developers last month is now available in any case where there are people who would want to test. The beta app backs text as well as voice queries.

The new app is designed to support more conversations and it happens to be occupying the largest part in the new focus that Microsoft has for Cortana. From the looks of these, it appears that the tech giant wants to have the digital assistant to be independent of the normal built-in Windows 10 search engine and by so doing be focused on business users. The new Cortana app for Windows 10 backs up more features than it used to and some of those features include queries, assistant conversations, opening apps, managing lists, and basics such as setting reminders, alarms, and setting timers.
As explained by the Microsoft Windows Insider Chief, Dona Sarkar, “Not all the features from the previous Cortana experience are available just yet. As a Beta, we plan to add more features over time with updates to Cortana from the Microsoft Store.”
The new Cortana app is currently available in the Fast Ring preview of Windows 10 which is the one with the build 18945. It will be released for the first to all Windows 10 users ultimately in the first half of the year 2020. The tech giant has also further developed Cortana so that “Hey, Cortana” does not sound as encroaching and meddlesome as it used to, and, the digital assistant now has a feature that allows the user to choose in between using a light theme or a dark one in Windows 10. We also presume that the performance of the digital assistant should be well improved as well considering the fact that new speech and language models have been integrated into it.
